Established in
2003, the Sindh Rural Support Organization
(SRSO) is the major Rural Support Programme in Southern Sindh. It is a not-for-profit
organization registered under Section 42 of the Companies
Ordinance
1984. SRSO is present in 9 districts, namely Sukkur, Khairpur, Ghotki, Naushero
Feroz, Shikarpur, Jacobabad,
Larkana, Kashmore-Kandhkot, and Qambar-Shadadkot .The mandate of SRSO is to alleviate poverty by harnessing
the
people’s potential and to undertake development activities in Sindh.

Relief Activities for the Flood Affected Communities in Upper Sindh

The flood water has
entered into the SINDH Province devastating completely more than 11000 villages
in the Kacha and surrounding area displacing more than 213,000 households from
their villages along with 1,065,000 numbers of livestock. According to the SRSO’s
preliminary rapid assessment report the flooding started right from Guddu
affecting Districts situated at both banks of River Indus namely
Kashmore-Kandhkot, Shikarpur, Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Larkana, Naushero Feroze.
SRSO has started with the provision of Food and safe drinking water from
August 9, 2010 for this purpose
SRSO has established Emergency Cell at Head Office Sukkur with dedicated telephone land-lines
and fax number with a person present to respond round the clock...

The Union
Council Based Poverty Reduction Programme (UCBPRP) is a
pioneering initiative of the SRSO and the Government of Sindh,
for reducing poverty. The prime objective of this
programme is to improve the living standard of
communities in the said area, based upon the social
mobilization approach, supplemented by a number of
interventions. It was initiated on the 1st of
February 2009 in 2 districts of Sindh, namely Kashmore
and Shikarpur, for the

State Land to Landless
Harees Programme |

The "Grant of State Land to
Landless Harees Programme (LHP)" is one of the
initiatives of the Government of Sindh through Board of
Revenue (BoR) Land Utilization Department and for
reducing poverty. The LHP was initiated in the month of
March 2009 in 17 districts of Sindh. The project
is for 30 months and is being implemented by the
RSPs.....

Flood Relief Activities in
SRSO Program Area: SRSO has

SRSO has Organized 20 Vehicles pool (pick ups)
(including NRSP & IRM Vehicles) to cater the need of
shifting relief material from Sukkur to the affected
areas.
|

SRSO has hired 40 Shehzore / Mazda Trucks on Rent for a month for transporting
the material and further distribution in the affected areas.
|
|
| |
